What is Lip Blush?

Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that enhances lip colour by depositing coloured ink into the lips.

What does the appointment involve?

Prior to your appointment you will be asked to complete a Medical history form.

Full treatment details, expectations and aftercare will be discussed prior to treatment as part of the consultation process.

If you are happy to proceed following the consultation, together with our SPMU technician you will then choose a lip pigment/shade. (Your welcome to bring a lipstick with you to the appointment for us to colour match).

The lip outline will then be “mapped” using string and pencil. You will be shown the outline prior to commencing treatment to ensure you are completely happy with the shape.

The outline will then be started and once completed topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to your full lip for the remaining shading process.

On completion of your treatment full aftercare instructions will be explained.

Ointment will also be provided which is to be applied to the lips frequently over the following few days.

You will need to return to clinic six weeks later for a top-up appointment where further definition can be added to any areas that may have faded in colour.

What are the benefits?

  • Long lasting lip colour
  • Increased pigmentation for pale & ageing lips
  • Ability to customise your lip shade
  • Create fuller looking lips
  • Enhance symmetry
  • Provides colour correction for scars & pigmentation

Does it hurt?

We apply topical anaesthetic cream during the treatment to numb the lips, this helps to provide pain relief during the procedure.

Are there any side effects?

Most common side effects occur immediately after treatment and consist of redness, swelling and tenderness. This is normal and generally resolves within a couple of days.

Serious side effects are very rare – however there is always a risk of allergy and whenever we break the skin, it carries the risk of infection.

Treatment will only be carried out following a thorough consultation with our SPMU Specialist. This allows side effects to be discussed in detail before treatment is commenced.

How long will results last?

Results can last 2-3 years depending on the colour of pigment used.

Gradually over time pigment will fade – colour boost appointments can be carried out 6-18 month after the initial appointment to maintain vibrancy and definition.

How long does treatment take to complete?

Lip Blush is a two part process:

The initial appointment may take up to 2.5 hours to complete.

The 6 week top-up appointment may take up to 1.5 hours to complete.
