What is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Unwanted tattoos can be removed gradually over a series of sessions using laser.

The energy from the laser breaks down the tattoo ink into tiny fragments, which are eventually absorbed into the bloodstream and safely passed out of the body.

Does it hurt?

Clients have reported a stinging sensation (similar to the snap of a rubber band on the skin). However, most have reported the treatment hurts less than they expected.

Most areas do not require numbing, however, some clients feel more comfortable with a local anaesthetics, such as topical numbing cream which is available on request.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This varies depending on factors such as the location, depth, colour and size of your unwanted tattoo.

We recommend spacing out your treatments by 6-8 weeks to allow the body sufficient time to remove the most pigment.

To achieve complete tattoo removal  you will need to come back for further sessions.

Removal of Semi-permanent Makeup Removal is generally a quicker process than body tattoos.

Are there any side effects?

Occasionally, whitening of the skin may occur. However, normal skin tone should return within 6 -12 months following your last treatment session.

Ink used in tattooing can vary from tattoo to tattoo, results can also heavily vary dependant on how experienced/inexperienced the tattooist was, how deep the tattoo ink is and if any scarring occurred from the original tattoo. This is normally due to the tattooist going too deep with the needling. If this is the case, once your tattoo is removed – you could be left with some raised scaring.

Immediately after your treatment, your skin will have a white discolouration/flake, and the area around the tattoo will become red, swollen and bruised – this is normal and will disappear slowly over time.

Immediately after each treatment, antibacterial ointment and gauze will be applied to the treated area to minimise infection.

Treatment will only be carried out following a thorough medical consultation with our Laser specialists who will ensure this treatment is appropriate for you. This allows side effects to be discussed in detail before treatment is commenced.

How Long Does the treatment take?

An individual laser tattoo removal appointment typically lasts between 10 and 20 minutes.
