What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is the newest and fastest growing skin treatment in the world! A simple and safe manual exfoliation technique used to remove dead skin cells, vellus hair (peach fuzz) and surface debris from the epidermis to achieve a smooth and glowing complexion.
How does it work?
Using a medical grade scalpel, the surface of the skin is gently scraped using light strokes to remove the top layer of dead skin cells in order to reveal a smooth and bright complexion.
Dermaplaning is a safe and effective treatment for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding – as a deep manual exfoliation it is a perfect alternative to chemical skin peels.
Dermaplaning is ideal for patients suffering from excess vellus hair (peach fuzz) – this hair causes a build-up of dirt and oils in the follicles leaving the appearance of a dull complexion. By removing the vellus hair, pours are cleared; dead skin cells and trapped dirt/oils are removed to reveal healthier looking skin.
Are there any side effects?
Dermaplaning poses no serious side-effects. However, as always with any advanced treatments, our Aesthetic Therapist/Practitioner will ensure to check certain conditions which may not be suitable for this treatment.
With no downtime or risk of unwanted side effects, clients can resume normal day to day activities immediately following treatment.
This treatment is completely safe and can be used in Pregnancy.
Patients are often concerned that the vellus hair will grow back thicker and darker after dermaplaning – this is not the case! As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture.
