What is Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent fibres that are attached to your natural eyelashes in order to make your lash fringe look longer, fuller, and darker.

Individual lash extensions are applied to each of your individual natural eyelashes (one extension per natural eyelash) using a semi-permanent glue made to withstand water, sweat and oil.

What are the treatment benefits?

Eyelash extensions eliminate the need to wear mascara – you’ll wake up every morning with longer, fuller and darker lashes.

Unlike false eyelash strips, eyelash extensions are designed to be a longer-lasting solution to beautifying your natural lashes.

Does it hurt?

Eyelash extensions are a painless non-invasive treatment.

What is the difference between CLASSIC, HYBRID and RUSSIAN VOLUME lashes?

Classic, Hybrid and Russian are different lash styles. They are applied using different techniques and they all give different looks. Each look can be tailored to each client depending on what they want to achieve from their eyelash extensions.

Classic lashes, also known as individual lashes are the most natural form of eyelash extensions. This technique is 1:1 placement, meaning one extension is applied to each individual lash. This method is perfect if you would like to have a more natural enhancement to the eyes as it adds length to the lash, as well as subtle volume and density.

Hybrid lashes are a mixture of Classic and Russian Volume. Individual lashes are mixed with Russian Volume fans throughout the eyes, providing a fuller look than classics. This style of lashes is great if you are looking for classic lashes to extend the length but also the volume from the Russian style.

Russian Volume lash extensions are perfect if you would like to add more length and volume to the lash. Multiple extensions are applied to one natural lash creating a fluffy and voluminous look to the eyes.

Does the Eyelash Extension treatment damage your natural lashes?

No, eyelash extensions should not damage your lashes – the effects of the procedure are only semi-permanent.

Eyelashes naturally fall out and regrow every 4 to 6 weeks, so you won’t have to worry about damaging your lashes long term.

How long does treatment take to complete?

The initial treatment generally takes 2 Hours to complete, depending how many natural lashes you have. Your eyes will be closed for the entire treatment, so you might actually find yourself falling asleep.

Infill appointments (2-3 weeks after your initial treatment) are considerably shorter and generally take 1-1.5 Hours to complete, depending how many lashes have been lost over the interim period.

How long will the results last?

The effects are only temporary – to maintain your lashes you will need to repeat the process every 2-3 weeks.

How long your eyelash extensions lasts is completely dependent on how well you prepare and follow aftercare and also your natural lash growth cycle.

Are there any side effects?

While Eyelash Extensions are a non-invasive treatment, there are still some side effects to consider if you have a reaction to the glue used – these may be experienced within 2-3 days of treatment:

  • Inflammation
  • Blisters
  • Rashes
  • Redness
  • Dry eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Itching
  • Bloodshot eyes
  • Burning sensation

It’s very important to keep your eyes closed during the procedure to avoid getting adhesive or adhesive vapor into your eyes. This could cause a reaction ranging from watery eyes to a serious burn.

Eyelash extensions can also cause your eyelashes to break or thin out. This can largely be avoided if you avoid rubbing your eyes and pulling out the fibres attached to your natural lash.

This procedure is not recommended if you have a history of:

  • Sensitive skin
  • Dry eyes
  • Allergies
  • Eye allergies
  • Eye infections
  • Styes
  • Irritated or broken skin on the eyelids
  • Allergy to latex or to any of the ingredients used in the glue, prep, or removal products
  • Alopecia Areata
  • Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy
  • Trichotillomania

Treatment will only be carried out following a thorough  consultation with our Advanced Beauty Therapist who will assess whether this treatment is suitable for you.

This consultation process also allows side effects to be discussed in detail before treatment is commenced.

Aftercare Instructions

To ensure that your eyelash extensions last, you’ll need to:

  • Avoid getting your lashes wet for 24 – 48 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid applying products to the eyes for 24 – 48 hours after your treatment as this can reduce the effects of the procedure.
  • After the first 48 hours, clean your lash extensions every 3 days to remove any residue build up around the lash line, this will help to prevent eye infections. You can do so by performing the following steps:
    – Brush them with a Spoolie (the kind of brush used to apply mascara – you will be provided with one of these at your appointment)
    – Wash them with a special eyelash extension cleanser or distilled water
    – Let the water from your shower run down your face and over your eyes.
  • Brush your lashes daily to keep the fibres separated.
  • Avoid applying Mascara of any kind as this can soften the glue.
  • If you use eyeliner, opt for a water-based, non-waterproof version.
  • Ensure you are gentle when removing your makeup.
  • Do not rub your eyes as it can damage the extension and you’re your natural lash.
  • Avoid powdery eyeshadow as this can stick in the glue and build up over time resulting in infection.
  • Do not pick at the eyelash extensions or try to remove them yourself as you will pull out your natural lashes.
  • Sleep on your back. If you sleep on your stomach or side you may bend the lashes resulting in them lasting a shorter period of time.
  • Do not use eyelash curler as they can damage the extensions and pull them out.
  • Avoid oil based products as this will loosen the lash bond.
